Attention to the behavior of children is important for parents. Excessive verbal abuse may be a clue to inappropriate child rearing practices. From a primary prevention perspective, an observation of a child’s behavior and the parent–child interactions as appropriate for age may be an opportunity to provide parents with positive feedback about the quality of their parenting.
