The genitalia of female newborns look a bit different from the genitalia of older sexually immature females because of the influence of maternal hormones. At times, there may even be a bloody vaginal discharge within a few days after birth, resulting from withdrawal bleeding. The labia majora and labia minora appear full and puff y.
